The house is 90% complete according to the PM. I stopped by this afternoon since I was off the wife was working and I decided I wanted to get out of the bedroom that is my transition home. Much to my surprise their were 4 women cleaning the house when I arrived. It didn't look like they got much done before my arrival. We are buying our own refrigerator but RH was kind enough to throw one in so I could imagine my kitchen with one. Just kidding the screwed up again. They will be removing it tomorrow. All the floors and surfaces were uncovered but not cleaned. The little cleaning girls cooed how nice the place was and how good it looked. I said I bet you say that to all the guys. They denied it of course.

ReplyDeleteCan you share what tile options you used in the bathroom (4 pictures from the bottom)?
ReplyDeleteI think that's what I'm getting but want to make sure.
At the moment no my house paperwork stuff is all packed up.
DeleteBut it was an option not in the top tier but just before the top tier. I forgot what its called and do not have the paperwork till after I move in. The top tier was 12x12 this stuff was 10X12 or something.
However, the floor is not tile it is laminate that looks like tile and is the "free" stuff you get to choose from.
In my old house I had tiled and laminate floors in the bathroom and prefer the laminate.
Great pictures! It's a personal thing for me, but I love it when you come inside a house and are surprised by all the space and angles. That morning room and great room are fantastic! Not to mention the master suite. Congrats on such a beautiful house!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw one of the homes in foreclosure I was most impressed by the kitchen size, morning room, and great room. I re-created it the way I wanted it and think its beautiful. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
DeleteOk, I have to ask a sorta off-the-wall questions. One of the things that drove me CRAZY when we went to visit the model of the house we are building is the location of the vents. I noticed you have a large return vent in your dining room on the wall.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know what the "appropriate" placement of these vents should be? Growing up and in our current house, these are all located in the floor. I noticed in the model, a lot of the small vents are located in the ceiling, and these air return vents are HUGE and unsightly.
Did you have any questions/concerns about the locations of these, or is it just me that doesn't like these?
You can meet with your PM or SR and go over the blueprints for your home. It shows you the location for each electrical outlet, vents, window etc and even the room the attic door will be located. There must be so many inches between each outlet and vent to meet the codes for your home. I do know that depending on your elevation and lot the location they can shift slightly. You do get to ask and they may accommodate your request as long as they are not moved to far from the code recommendation. I questioned the location of every vent because I knew the location for each furniture and did not want them to disrupt my interior design. You also have air returns in most of the rooms on the upper level. Be sure they put your attic access in the correct room. They mistakenly put the attic access door in my neighbors bedroom which was unsightly. The good news they changed the location to the correct location.
DeleteThanks for answering that for me haha.
DeleteLove the kitchen granite and cabinets combo! They look great together!! My next door neighbor has this combination too.
ReplyDeleteI also really like the boxed columns in the basement! Looking good!
I regret not getting the stainless a little but hopefully black will always look good whereas stainless may be the white we abhor now in 15 years. haha
DeleteOooh, what color paint do you get in your community? Ours just switched to Sherwin Williams' Kilim Beige, and we'll be the first ones with it. I'm wondering if it will look similar to yours.

I think they had just switched to Sherwin also.
DeleteWow, you're almost there. Looking good. Love that 2 story great room and the paint color. I also really like how high they installed the tile in the shower - it seems like some get this and others have tile installed below the shower head (my preference and hope is to have it installed like yours).
ReplyDeleteLet the closing countdown really begin!
Thanks, they didn't install it that high. We paid for it. I had that shower recreated from a trip to Florida which is similar to the one in the condo where I proposed to the wife. The best part of the shower (I HOPE) is going to be the $1200 clear glass door with no frame on it. I say I hope because I described what I wanted and they said they would do it but could not show me a picture of what they would do. Not a gambling man but I'm really rolling the dice on this one!!
DeleteFrameless glass shower door is always a winner. I'm going to try and work with contractors to have it done during the build (like blogger dwtimes2 was able to) or will do for it after closing. Probably a bit nerve-wracking for you to have it done sight unseen but I'm sure it will turn out great.
DeleteGreat house. The kitchen is nice and i love the details and colors. It will be amazing to decorate the place and I'm sure your just so exciting. home cleaning lancaster
