Time is running out!

Today was the unofficial pre final walk through.  The final walk through will be on 5/8/13.  The PM wants to make sure he addresses everything before then.  Which is nice for us since it should be close to perfect on day 1 and nice for him if RH doesn't have to come back in 30 days with a laundry list of things to do. I'm sure he learned this tactic when it comes to the home buyer ratings being much higher with less mistakes.  Now we need to focus on doggy proofing the house.

Lucy "The Runner"

Tanner "The barker"

We have two precious doggies who need a fenced in yard.  They are considered runners and I am not in the mood to chase them down every time the sneak out the door so we have to get a fence for them so we don't have to walk them every 20 minutes or until a bird fly's by the window.  In order to keep problems at a minimum we need to get a patio installed before the fence (To put the hot tub on).  Then we need a yard installed before the fence (since they need to use a bob cat to unroll the sod).  I don't feel like waiting for the grass to grow over a period of months so I am just gonna spring for some side and back yard sod immediately.  Them the fence can go up.

Couple of things that weren't done have finally been completed.  One is the fireplace.  It is in its final stages of assembly.

Holes in the walls are for surround sound

That ubatuba for the granite lovers

And the "coals" actually look real

The other addition was the shower.  I envisioned something better but I am about 80-85% happy with this.  I thought it was going to be frame less.  I wanted it securely fastened on the sides but alas it has a frame.  Well that's what you get for no picture buying and assuming they understand what you want.

Maybe what I really wanted just couldn't be done?
Still its better than typical sliding glass door.
I give em a "B"

  2. YOUR DOGS ARE ADORABLE!!!!!!!

I like your planning schedule for the dogs! As for the shower, I get what you mean but I have to admit, thank God you don't have the regular thin aluminum frames that RH installs. Ugghh I can't wait to get the seamless frame. It's on my schedule too. lol smiley face.

  3. Love how that fireplace turned out.. We liked the full stone one, but your fireplace really shines. It is also not as obtrusive as the full stone one.

The shower turned out great too. I am not familiar with the Dunkirk, but is that a standard option? I know they wouldn't let us add windows in showers or full bath, when they really could use some light.

    1. Fire place was an option. Windows were standard they even have one in the master closet.

    2. Very cool. Can never have enough windows.. speaking of which, did you see a need to add any of that "great windows stuff" insulation? I looked through the top secret project pages but did not see any pictures of that.

    3. I don't think I understand the question. Top secret stuff was basically wiring for sound, data and cable ports, insulation between floors and interior walls, and wrapping all water pipes in sound deadening materials.

Only top secret at the time to protect the innocent.

    4. I mean the window insulation. Some people had been complaining of windows being drafty, and the solution some owners took upon themselves was using cans of spray insulation to add some extra insulation for the windows. I think that product is made by Dow and called "Great Stuff Windows & doors insulating spray foam." So when you ran the cables and did the insulation, did you find a need to add extra sealant to the windows?

    5. RH claims the windows are caulked, foamed, and double pane. I don't think I have heard any complaints about drafty windows. Especially since they are tested on that. Was this a recent complaint?

  5. Did you make a non-standard request for a frameless shower door or is what is pictured the standard option?

    1. That is non-standard it cost about $1000 extra. If you have seen the basement shower door that is standard. It's in a previous post.

    2. Ok, thanks for the info. We also made a non-standard request for a seamless shower and this was first I have seen it like this, the others were completely seamless.

  6. When I went shopping for our seam less shower they Rep at the glass company wanted to give me that style of shower because he said that was a better tight seal and no water would ever escape....But he also said our seamless shower "might" leak a little bit and may require a mat at the door if we didn't get the door like you did. My hubby talked me into rolling the dice and we did the complete seamless shower....and it does NOT leak so I am glad I went for the look and not the "safe" way out, but see I like ask soooooooooooooooooooo many questions I drive my hubby nutz, so maybe had I NOT asked sooooooooooo many questions they may give give me the shower you have. Which by the way is awesome!! It still has that very clean line....I like it :)

    1. Wow that's interesting. A far different experience from me. I did not have a model to look at. I found a foreclosed Dunkirk and "had to have one". I built it with my imagination. We did all the selections in the basement including flooring and tile. I just told guardian what I wanted. We never got to look at the shower door they just sent me a pdf of what it was supposed to look like. Guess what it doesn't look like the pdf haha.
